Jon McKinney, you are an angel.  You gave your time, energy, money and many sleepless nights, I'm sure, to help your friend, Sneaky Pete and our family during these sad times. You just don't know what this means to me especially. Thank you.

I also want to thank John Boyd and his family for being so wonderful to me.  And to every single person that gave their all for the Sneaky Pete Benefit, thank you. I do not know your names, but I know your hearts.

God bless you, Anita Kleinow

Three days of "Cosmic American Music"; eclectic experiences; dancing; yummy  foods; fine wine and spirits - in the magical  Hi-Desert Playhouse and Guild Hall with live performances on two great sound stages with too many guest musicians to even count!   A notable and outrageous array of performers for music loving souls of all ages - surrounded by the infamous beauty of  the Joshua Tree National Park.

With over 40 acts performing, this event is considered to be one of the biggest "little concerts" in Southern California.   It will take place on September 29th, September 30th &  October 1st 2006 as "The Cosmic American Music Festival" and  "The 11th Annual Gram Fest" return to Joshua Tree, California.   What started as a Gram Parsons Tribute concert has become an annual Mecca for fans of Americana roots style music and the musicians who come from around the state and the country to perform.

The event will take place at The Hi-Desert Playhouse Theatre & Guild Hall in Joshua Tree, CA.
Doors will open at 4:00 pm on Friday and Saturday and run until the last bands have played.  Then again,  a full day of events for the Sneaky Pete Benefit on Sunday October 1st, 2006 Doors open at Hi-noon with performances ‘till 7:00pm.   All three days of the concert will feature live performances on two stages simultaneously.

The shows will feature tunes written by Gram Parsons  as well as influential songs and musical styles from other artists that were part of that era.  Performers are also encouraged to showcase their own material.   The underlying theme of the event is to inspire the performers to take these musical styles to the next level of the creative process.

Special Workshops:
      Michael O'Dorn:

Inspired by his father's recordings and the gift of an early '50s Gibson acoustic, Michael O'Dorn began playing guitar when he was about six years old. He learned to play fingerstyle listening to records repeatedly until he was able to figure out progressions and licks.   Michael's early influences included Merle Travis and Chet Atkins, and later Marcel Dadi; he would eventually meet all three of his guitar heroes. When he was in his 20's, Travis encouraged Michael to "keep pickin'" and even showed him some of his original licks.  Michael recalls, "I went home and practiced 'til my fingers fell off."
Michael's diligence paid off in the form of an endorsement relationship with D'Aquisto Strings which lead to meeting Marcel Dadi at a NAMM Show.  Marcel and Teddy Krause of D'Aquisto Strings arranged for Michael to perform at the 1994 Atkins Dadi guitar festival in Issoudun, France.  There, Mark Pritcher, the president of the Chet Atkins Appreciation Society invited Michael to perform a concert set and teach a workshop on the music and style of Merle Travis at the annual CAAS convention in Nashville. Michael has been invited back every year since.
You will have the opportunity to participate in Michael O’Dorn's  Fingerstyle Guitar Workshop Sat. Sept. 30th at 10:30am - 11:30am. Sign up early, spots will fill fast!
